In harbours the maintenance dredging is done with a TSHD. This dredge is not able to go close to the quay. The material at the quay sides is pulled to the middle of the harbour by the dredging plough. This material can than be dredged with the TSHD. The dredging plough can also be use to level the ground or transport material with other reasons. The difficulty in designing a dredging plough is to attach it to the vessel in a way that the vessel stays stable even with unpredictable forces on the plough.
